Alison Piotrowski brings her warmth, tenacity, and years of high-profile international reporting to Australian screens as the host of Weekend Today on Nine.

Before taking the anchor seat, Alison spent four years embedded as Nine’s US Correspondent, covering some of the defining global stories of our time. Her tenure in North America saw her lead coverage on the 2024 US Presidential Election, the assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life, the Titan submersible disaster and the Paris Olympics.

Her time in America was highlighted by a slew of high profile court cases, including Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial, Ghislaine Maxwell’s sentencing and the trial of Derek Chauvin, convicted of killing George Floyd, whose death sparked Black Lives Matter protests across America.

From standing on the steps of the US Supreme Court after the overturning of abortion rights law Roe v. Wade, to reporting live from two category four hurricanes, Alison established herself as one of Nine’s most calm and dependable voices in high-stakes reporting.

Following the October 7 attacks in 2023, Alison reported from the Gaza border, covering human stories on the ground alongside hostage families, impacted kibbutzim, and regional leaders. In May 2024, she traveled to Mexico’s Baja peninsula to investigate the murders of Australian surfers Callum and Jake Robinson, delivering critical field reporting on cartel violence.

Prior to her US posting Alison was an all-rounder reporter for A Current Affair, including an investigation into the Twelve Tribes cult that triggered an ongoing police inquiry, uncovering international fraudster Emese Fajk on The Block, securing exclusive access inside the terrorism unit in Goulburn’s Supermax prison, and successfully lobbying the TGA to withdraw the medication Bufexamac from Australian markets following adverse reactions in patients.

Alison launched her media career behind the microphone as a DJ at Sydney’s independent radio station FBi while completing her Honours degree in Media at Macquarie University—a start marked by an unforgettable interview where she boldly asked billionaire Richard Branson for a million dollars to keep the then-ailing station afloat.
