Tom Boyd is a former AFL premiership player and respected speaker on performance, wellbeing and resilience due to his courage to redefine personally and professionally what achievement truly means.
Raised in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, Tom combined academic success with outstanding sporting talent, excelling across a range of sports before being selected as the No.1 pick in the 2013 AFL National Draft by the Greater Western Sydney Giants.
After his first AFL season, Tom returned to Victoria to join the Western Bulldogs, where he became an important part of the club’s rise and played a key role in its historic 2016 AFL Premiership victory.
Throughout his career, Tom experienced the unique pressures that come with elite sport, including intense public scrutiny and high performance expectations. While competing at the highest level, he also faced significant mental health challenges, particularly severe insomnia, which ultimately led to his retirement from AFL football in 2019 at the age of 23.
Since leaving the game, Tom has become a sought-after speaker, sharing insights on performance, mental health, leadership and personal development. Drawing on his experiences in elite sport and life beyond football, he encourages audiences to think differently about success, wellbeing and building a strong sense of identity.
