Damien Aylward is a Melbourne based actor and singer who started his journey into the world of music and acting in his early teens.
In 1995 Damien was part of the first intake of students into the newly created Bachelor of Performing Arts (Drama and Theatre studies) at Monash University and in the same three year period he also studied Drama and Theatre at The National Theatre Drama School in St.Kilda.
In 1999 Damien got his first big break after auditioning for the musical Rent. He performed in the ensemble and understudied the lead character Roger, performing the role on many occasions.
In the same period Damien began to forge himself as an actor and appeared as a guest and semi regular character on shows such as Blue Heelers, Stingers, The Secret Life of Us, Neighbours, Last Man Standing, Bed of Roses and The Time of our Lives. He had roles in the feature films, The Tender Hook and Animal Kingdom as well as appearing in many TVC’s in this time.
In 2002, as part of Melbourne’s Midsumma festival, Damien performed the lead role of Scott in the hit musical I should be so Lucky. The show sold out before opening night and received critical acclaim. Damien was nominated for a Green Room Award for his performance. In 2003 Damien was then cast as one of the leading characters, Whispering Jack (John Farnham,) in the original cast of We Will Rock You.
Since 2006 Damien and his wife, Jodi have owned and operated Sault Restaurant in Daylesford.
