Abbey Gelmi is one of Australia’s leading sports media personalities, with an extensive career spanning television, radio, live events and journalism.
Originally from Perth and now based in Melbourne, Abbey is currently the host of the ABC’s Offsiders, one of Australia’s most respected sports programs. Every Sunday morning, Abbey leads a panel of some of the country’s most knowledgeable sporting journalists and experts, discussing the biggest stories, issues and moments across the sporting world.
Abbey has also hosted prime-time Olympic coverage, AFL, cricket and horse racing, and is a regular fixture on Network Ten’s The Cheap Seats.
Alongside her television career, Abbey co-hosts the radio show GOLD with Eddie McGuire, where she joins Eddie every Monday and Friday from 6pm for GOLD Sport. The weekly show combines Abbey’s deep sporting knowledge with her natural ability to engage audiences across sport, entertainment and current affairs.
Abbey also hosts the popular sports podcast Two Good Sports alongside her best friend Georgie Tunny. Each week, the pair unpack the latest news, personalities and events from across the sporting world. The podcast was nominated for multiple awards at the 2024 Australian Podcast Awards.
Prior to her current roles, Abbey spent 11 years at the Seven Network, establishing herself as one of the network’s go-to sports reporters and host of Seven News weekend sports coverage. She was also previously the breakfast host at Fox Sports News, reporting breaking sporting stories nationally from the network’s 24-hour news desk.
A natural live performer, Abbey has been part of the host broadcast teams for the Brownlow Medal and Cricket Australia Awards, and has hosted major events including the GQ Man of the Year Awards and the Big Freeze at the G every year. Her versatility across sport, entertainment and lifestyle also saw her host Channel Seven’s House Rules: High Stakes alongside Jamie Durie in 2019.
Sport has always been a huge part of Abbey’s life. The granddaughter of Olympic gold medallist Herb Elliott, her genuine passion and knowledge of sport shines through in everything she does.
